Ahead of last year.

Friday night and Saturday morning was extra busy for the Mama Turtles on Holden. Daybreak revealed THREE NEW NESTS as well as two more false crawls. Our rider was fortunate to see one of the Mamas at daybreak.

2023 has already produced 56 NESTS, and that is only 9 short of last year’s total! Still plenty of time left for more nesting this season.

Teams have "collared" or prepared our first three nests on the beach for hatching and are checking these nests each evening. But, due to the colder temperatures when these nests were laid in May, these nests are needing more time to incubate. The heat from the past week should speed some of the nests along. More nests will be "collared" this week and we'll have teams on the beach every evening. We expect hatchlings any day, now.
