Riders are on the beach

It is almost turtle time on our beach. South Carolina has reported their first turtle nest of the season...so they should be on our beach,....soon.
Yesterday there was a report of an injured small green turtle near the pier. Our turtle stranding team responded. The turtle was taken to the Karen Beasley Turtle Sea Turtle Rescue and Rehabilitation Center near Topsail. The turtle had been hit by a boat. The hospital plans to do x-rays to determine the extent of the damage.

Our riders are out every morning looking for turtle tracks. Last year our first nest was laid on May 10.....so any day now.
