New Record Number of Nests

posted: July 10, 2019, 10:43 AM

Today, nests 74 and 75 were found on Holden Beach breaking the previous record of 73! While the number of new nests has tapered off in the past 7-10 days, there are still several weeks of nesting ahead. This same nesting pattern has been seen throughout the Brunswick Islands as well as the entire east coast. This will surely be a season for the record books!

We're still waiting for the first hatchlings on Holden Beach. Several nests have been prepared for hatching but there's been no evidence yet of any activity.

Children's Turtle Time takes place at 4pm today at the Town Hall and Turtle Talk at 7pm. Please join members of the Turtle Patrol for an informative and fun time!
