Wild Nest Closed

Wild nest 52 closed last night. We saw over 90 babies go out from this surprise nest in the beautiful moonlight last Wednesday night. There were no additional live babies found during the excavation. The patrol members did find 6 infertile eggs and 121 egg shells. Prior to Wednesday night this nest was unknown to the turtle patrol, our morning rider missed seeing it. We figure it was laid around the end of June when we had lots of wind and rain on the beach---these conditions can cause problems for the riders seeing the mother's crawl.

Teams are "collaring" and starting to watch nests 36 and 37 tonight (day 47) because they both have depressions. Things are fast and furious on the beach!
