Saturday morning update!

Two nests and a false crawl today. Closing nest #1 tonight, so far only small numbers of hatchlings seen from that nest. Vacationers reported seeing a momma turtle on the beach last night, they took photos and she turned around and left without laying her eggs. This is a called a false crawl, perhaps they frightened her away. We found nest #17 not far from the false crawl and think it maybe the same mother that tried agan and successfully laid 42 eggs---including some small spacer eggs seen in the photo. PLEASE remember that if you see a mother (or hatchlings) on the beach call our stranding team at 910-754-0766 and DO NOT take flash photos!
