FALSE CRAWLS

So far this year we have had 23 false crawls. A FALSE CRAWL is when the mother turtle crawls up on the beach but does not lay any eggs? Why? Perhaps she was frightened away by a loud noise, people on the beach or a light. Perhaps she ran into something like a fence or abandoned beach cabana that hindered her crawl. These photos are of False Crawl #22 on Saturday May 26. The response team dug for an hour looking for any eggs. None were found. The Turtle Patrol will record the location on GPS and continue to monitor the site.
